Tarock Weekly - Issue #2

Welcome back to Tarock Weekly, the one and only fictional magazine about Arcadian Tarock. We're glad to see so many of you picking up their deck and challenging all sorts of players around Gaia. How's your collection coming along? If you're struggling, scroll down for some hints!

Today we want to discuss pro players. There are several kinds of pro players:

  • People all around Gaia wearing a purple hat

  • Most key characters (Master Mayfair, Gen, Trin, etc.)

  • Some defeated criminals

  • A couple of unique players we won't spoil!

Approaching pro players from the beginning might result in a streak of losses. We recommend testing your hand with regular Tarock players before challenging a pro. Why? Because pro players will, most likely, have an edge on you. First of all, they often use powerful cards – on the one hand, defeating them is great for your collection. On the other, you actually have to, ahem, defeat them first. So make sure you have some cards to choose from before testing your deck against them.

Defeating pro players is not the only way to get your hands on rare cards: look around for other issues of Tarock Weekly within the game; they contain plenty of hints of where some powerful cards have last been seen!

Now, for the tips section of this issue, here's how we suggest you go about picking your hands against opponents. Of course, it all depends on your goals:

  • If you want more strategic options, consider cards with Special Direction Attacks. In this case, pick cards with different directions if available.

  • If you want to brute-force the match, and your opponent is not a pro, pick cards with a high attack value.

  • If you know your opponent will use cards with high attack value but not too many with Special Direction Attacks, consider cards with high Defense value.

  • If you're trying to make sure specific cards appear in the opponent's hands, pick that card for your hand or a card of comparable level.

  • Finally, check what it does now if you unlocked a card's Special Ability. You might want to prioritize it over others, even if you usually wouldn't include it in your hand.

Before wrapping it up, we'd like to share a couple of hints we just received from our trusted card hunters: two rare cards are being tracked down as we speak. One seems to have appeared to the east of the White City, the other near the reef of Submeria. Will you get there before them? Let's see!

That's all for the second issue of Tarock Weekly, GG everyone!
