We won Small Screen Game of the Year at the FGA!
Some of you might know that Cornfox & Bros. is a small indie company based in Helsinki, Finland. Finland itself is a Nordic country with about 6 million people inhabiting a lush green area of about 338 000 square kilometers. That means that your nearest neighbor might live just a few kilometers down the road in the least populated areas.
Despite its sparseness, Finland tops many world charts, the most notorious being "the happiest country in the world." While that record might sound a bit silly for the Finns too, one thing is sure: Finland is a cradle of tech innovation, a Silicon Valley in the North, and video games play a big part in all that.
It's understandable why the Finnish Game Awards are an essential yearly appointment for many of us in the dev scene.
Yesterday evening, during the latest iteration of the Finnish Game Awards, the first to be held online due to social distance, we won the Small Screen Game of the Year award, an extremely prestigious prize in Rovio's and Supercell's country. We were in good company, as other candidates included excellent titles from our friends at Rovio, Frogmind, Kopla Games, and Rival Games.
While we know that Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm looks gorgeous on the big screen too, it makes us extremely happy to get this acknowledgment in a place famous for its excellence and innovation in mobile gaming.
We made this game with a team of fewer than ten people, and after a great first year on Apple Arcade, we're now ready to port it to Nintendo Switch, where we know a lot of you will enjoy the journey as much as we did.
The future looks bright for Oceanhorn, look forward to it!
